Clinical Supervision for Art Therapists & Counselors

Supervision for LGPAT, LGPC, and GPAT Clinicians Pursuing Licensure in Maryland & DC

Clinical Supervision for New Therapists

Becoming a therapist is meaningful, challenging, and at times far more complicated than graduate school prepares you for. Clinical supervision is where theory meets real-life practice, where confidence is built, and where questions that feel too big or too vulnerable finally get space.

I offer clinical supervision for new therapists in Maryland & DC who want thoughtful guidance, honest feedback, and a collaborative space to grow into their clinical voice. My supervision services are designed to support clinicians pursuing licensure as LGPCs and LGPATs, as well as early-career therapists seeking consultation as they build confidence and clinical skill.

Why I Chose to Become a Supervisor

My own development as a therapist was profoundly shaped by my supervisors. The supervisors who impacted me most were not the ones who had all the answers, but the ones who created room for curiosity, reflection, and repair. They normalized uncertainty, named what was hard, and modeled how to stay grounded and ethical while doing emotionally demanding work.

I also carry with me the things I wish someone had told me earlier, about imposter syndrome, burnout, countertransference, documentation realities, power dynamics, and how long it actually takes to feel steady in this profession. My approach to supervision is shaped by both gratitude for what I received and a commitment to naming what often goes unspoken.

What I Believe About Supervision

Supervision should be a place where you can:

  • Ask questions without fear of judgment

  • Receive direct, supportive feedback

  • Explore mistakes as opportunities for learning

  • Strengthen clinical judgment and confidence

  • Integrate who you are as a person into how you practice as a therapist

I view supervision as a collaborative process. While I bring experience, training, and accountability to the role, I deeply respect the developing wisdom, creativity, and instincts you are building as a clinician.

A Good Fit If You:

Supervision with me may be a good fit if you:

  • Are open to feedback and reflective dialogue

  • Want to grow clinically, not just “check a box” for licensure

  • Are interested in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts-based work

  • Want to integrate art therapy into clinical practice (or are curious about how to do so ethically and effectively)

  • Value a supervision relationship that balances structure with warmth and flexibility

  • Added bonus: If you are working toward both your LCPC and LCPAT in Maryland, my dual credentials allow you to count supervision hours toward both licenses (“double dip” on hours, per state regulations)

Maryland Clinical Supervision Offerings

Individual Supervision

  • $120 per hour

  • Available in person at my Olney, Maryland office or via telehealth

  • Ideal for clinicians seeking individualized support, deeper case consultation, or scheduling flexibility

Group Supervision

  • $90 per person / 90 minutes

  • Minimum 3 participants, maximum 5

  • Groups are typically held online

  • If there is interest in forming an in-person group, I would be happy to explore that option

Group supervision offers the added benefit of shared learning, diverse perspectives, and reduced isolation while remaining financially accessible. Please note that many states have limit on how many hours can be counted as group supervision versus individual supervision. Make sure you have clarified your state’s requirements and are obtaining the required amount of individual supervision hours.

Credentials & Licensure (Maryland & Washington, DC)

I hold the following credentials and licenses:

  • ATR-BC (Board Certified Art Therapist)

  • LCPC & LCPAT – Maryland

  • LCPC & PAT – Washington, DC

  • LPC – Missouri

  • Maryland Approved Art Therapy Supervisor (for LGPAT)

  • Maryland Approved Counseling Supervisor (LGPC) – application submitted and awaiting approval

Next Steps / Getting Started

If you’re interested in working together, the process typically looks like this:

  1. Reach out via the contact form to express interest in individual or group supervision and share what license(s) you are pursuing.

  2. Brief consultation to discuss your goals, supervision needs, scheduling preferences, and determine goodness of fit.

  3. Supervision agreement & paperwork completed prior to beginning supervision.

  4. Ongoing supervision provided in a supportive, reflective, and growth-oriented space, aligned with licensure requirements.

I welcome questions from clinicians who are early in the process, unsure what they need, or simply wanting to explore whether this supervision approach aligns with their values and learning style.
